Global Update 1

Welcome to my first update on news around the globe. The war between Russia and Ukraine is still ongoing and despite Trump’s efforts there is no ceasefire deal in sight. Even the agreement to not attack energy facilities didn’t come to fruition so there is no movement in that area. The Israel-Gaza war continues with Israel striking targets across Gaza and moving ground troops in to start splitting Gaza in two again. The USA central command continues to strike the Houthis in Yemen who in turn have restarted their ballistic missile launches at Israel. Syria and Lebanon continue to exchange fire after Hezbollah started a skirmish with HTS. Turkey’s Erdogan is trying to hold onto power as mass protests seem to be developing towards an uprising. Europe has announced financial support to Syria to help rebuild. Trump has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a deadline to come to a new nuclear deal while European countries have threatened the Islamic Republic with more sanctions. In Greenland the elections were won by the centre-right democrats yet they maintain a slow movement to independence rather than an immediate change like Trump has suggested. In Africa the Democratic Republic of Congo is losing the support of the Southern African Development Community who are ending their peacekeeping mission there. The UN in Africa has also been accused of sexual abuse to those they are meant to be helping. In Asia, Taiwan and China are continuing their passive aggressiveness without coming to any military clashes, Taiwan is increasing their military spending in response to threats from China.
